In this talk, Lung will reflect on the expansive body of work produced through their alter ego Frau Fiber, taking inventory of performances, workshops, and interventions that confront the politics of garment labor and global supply chains. Moving between documentation, storytelling, and critical reflection, Lung will consider how projects such as The Sewing Rebellion function as embodied research, collective pedagogy, and radical thrift.
Lung’s work was recently featured in Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction, curated by Lynne Cooke, which traveled from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to the National Gallery of Art, the National Gallery of Canada, and the The Museum of Modern Art, situating contemporary textile practice within a global art historical frame.
